About Us
Our school values community, student growth and active learning. We aim to create a supportive environment that recognizes effort, encourages curiosity and brings our students together. Below are a few ways we put these values into practice throughout the school year.
Peace Begins with Me
At Adams, peace is not just a concept—it’s a commitment. We focus on being peaceful in all situations and our students are empowered to take ownership of their actions and attitudes through our school-wide peace initiative.
Days of Peace:
Our students work together to achieve consecutive “Days of Peace.” When a milestone is reached, we celebrate as a community with fun and memorable events, including:
-
Glow parties
-
Water parties
-
A rotating snack cart
Peace Patrol:
A rotating team of students serves on the Peace Patrol. These students promote kindness, resolve conflicts peacefully and recognize others who demonstrate peaceful behavior throughout the school.
Peace Themed Events:
We host several community-centered events with peace as the theme:
-
Peace Walk – A neighborhood walk promoting unity and peace.
-
Peace Dinner – An evening gathering with special guests, free childcare and a focus on family and community harmony.
Daily routines
At Adams, it's important that we view our entire building as a unit, motivated to work towards the same goals. We find that starting and ending each day together on a positive note enhances learning and encourages work ethic both inside and outside of the classroom.
Morning Assembly:
Each school day begins with a full-school assembly where we join in a call-and-response that sets the tone for a positive day:
We are… Leaders!
We are… Problem Solvers!
We are… World Changers!
Bet! We the Jets!
Peace! Begins with me!
Following this, our principal offers a brief motivational message before students head to class.
End-of-Day Gathering:
At the end of the day, students gather in the gym to:
-
Celebrate student birthdays
-
Hear daily announcements
-
Listen to the Peace Patrol highlight the peaceful moments they witnessed
quarterly spirit assemblies
Every nine weeks, we hold Spirit Assemblies to recognize students for their outstanding contributions in leadership, problem-solving, academic achievement and for being world changers. These events include:
-
Awards and certificates
-
A fun, lighthearted game featuring our staff—always a student favorite
Community engagement & student support
As a LoveFortWayne School Connect Cafe, Adams holds bi-monthly meetings with local partners to address school and community needs. This partnership has resulted in:
-
Free monthly haircuts for students
-
Monthly donations of $1,500 in food items
Study Connection:
This after-school program meets on Tuesdays and is supported by volunteers from the Fort Wayne Rotary Club. Volunteers assist students with reading, math and classroom assignments, building lasting relationships as mentors throughout the school year.
Blessings in a Backpack:
Each Friday, students receive a bag of nutritious, easy-to-prepare food items packed by volunteers from The Chapel. These bags ensure that every child has enough to eat over the weekend and can return to school on Monday nourished and ready to learn.
