Meet the Principal

Jeremy Ames

I began my educational journey as a student in Fort Wayne Community Schools, attending South Wayne Elementary and later Irwin Elementary. In sixth grade, my family moved to Indianapolis, where I graduated from high school, but FWCS was always a place I hoped to return to. From a young age, I knew I wanted to become an educator, and I went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education with a concentration in History from Ball State University.

In the early 2000s, teaching opportunities in Indiana were limited, so I began my career in Texas with Aldine Independent School District in the Houston area. During my time there, I served in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher and instructional coach. It was through coaching that I discovered a passion for supporting teachers and saw firsthand the powerful impact it has on student success. This led me to pursue a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Lamar University, and I later served as both an Assistant Principal and Principal in Houston.

In the 2023–2024 school year, I made the decision to return to Indiana to be closer to family, working briefly with Indianapolis Public Schools before coming back to Fort Wayne Community Schools—where my journey first began. It is truly an honor to be part of the Adams Elementary team. Our school is rooted in three neighborhoods, giving us a unique opportunity to build strong partnerships with our families and community. I believe that when we work together, we can support every child in growing both academically and socially.

Each student who walks through our doors has incredible potential, and a strong educational foundation is the first step in helping them achieve their goals. It is a joy to see our students engaged in learning, building new skills and developing confidence each day. I am excited to continue supporting their growth and celebrating their successes, both in school and beyond.
